Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
Arrive in Lhasa. Our guide will greet you outside the baggage claim area at Gonggar Airport, where the altitude is 3,650 meters above sea level. It is suggested that you have a good rest at the hotel for the remaining time of the day to acclimate to the high altitude in case of acute mountain sickness.

Day 2: Lhasa City Tour
Your impressive excursion to the splendid 【Potala Palace】is scheduled in the morning. Originally built in the 7th century as an imperial palace, the Potala Palace experienced 600 years of turbulent history before undergoing reconstruction in the 17th century. From then on, it has been the political, religious, cultural and economic center of Tibet. Currently, it is the largest treasure house of this mysterious land, attracting a great number of travelers and pilgrims every day.
After lunch, you will come to the 【Jokhang Temple】, which is located in the city center. Constructed in the 7th century, at the height of the Tubo Kingdom, this temple is the best architectural combination of Tibetan, Han, Nepalese and Indian styles. Around the temple is the thriving bazaar of the Barkhor Street, which attracts a large number of pilgrims, travelers, businessmen and expats. Overnight stay at the hotel in Lhasa.

Day 3: Lhasa City Tour
After breakfast, you are going to visit the 【Drepung Monastery】, located in the west suburb of the city. It is one of the ‘Three Great Monasteries’ and the largest one in Tibetan Buddhism. Looking at a distance, the monastery is like a heap of rice, consisting of a group of white buildings layer upon layer.
In the afternoon, visit the 【Sera Monastery】, the second largest monastery in Tibet which is well-known for the excellent debating of Buddhist doctrines among lamas. If we are lucky enough, we will get a chance to watch a live debate session and you may join in too with the help of your guide.

Day 4: Lhasa – Gyantse – Shigatse
Today, you will take a long journey to Gyantse with stop-offs at the 【Yamdrok Yumtso Lake】 and the【Karola Glacier】. The Yamdrok Yumtso Lake is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet and regarded as the embodiment of a goddess according to the mythology. Karola Glacier is one of three largest glaciers here as well. Upon your arrival in Gyantse, you are going to visit the 【Palkhor Monastery】. Reputed as the ‘King of Tibet Pagodas’, Palkhor Monastery is famous for its ingenious layout, unique appearance, fantastic sculptures and amazing murals inside.
Finally, our private transfer will drive you to Shigatse and you will check-in at the best local hotel.

Day 5: Shigatse – Lhasa
Today, you will visit the 【Tashilhunpo Monastery】 and the 【New Palace of Panchen】. Tashilhunpo Monastery is the largest Yellow Hat sect monastery in Tibet. The highlight here is the world’s largest bronze Buddhist statue which is 26 meters high. The New Palace of Panchen is the summer palace of the tenth Panchen Lama. Besides the splendid palace interior, you will see a number of precious cultural relics like murals.
Afterwards, you will take a bus back to Lhasa (approx. 5 hours).

Day 6: Lhasa
Today, our guide and driver will transfer you to the Lhasa airport for your return flight.
